Warholian reviews Aline Dargie’s weavings & Voodoo Chop at Project One Gallery
VOODOO CHOP GROUP SHOW AT PROJECT ONE GALLERY, review and photos by Mike Cuffe of Warholian
“The ocean is often mysterious and dark, but it can also play a rejuvenating role within our lives. We’ve all had the experience of watching waves break, over and over, in a cycle that has been repeating itself since the beginning of planet earth.”
“Aline Dargie has studied textiles at the California College of the arts, and her interpretations of waves that hung throughout the gallery were simply stunning in concept and design. Hand dyed fabrics interwoven with metal fibers gave each work a shimmering mystical quality, and caught the eye of many visiting gallery patrons. Her signature piece was an textile interpretation of sunset light bouncing off the Golden Gate Bridge, casting reddish purple hues on the water below. A perfect concept paired with amazing technique.”

Culturitized Sticks in North Beach
Aline’s sticks!
Sticks and bark collected from windstorms and yard trimmings in North Beach, ‘culturitized’ with gold and silver leaf and paint, attached to various city trees and signs with yarn. Look closely around North Beach for these guerrilla installations.

Celeste working on the 1000 Cranes mobile
Celeste Rose is a magical woman. Miss Rose made 1000 Cranes from the bits of paper ephemera passing through her life between December 2010 and July 2011. Come to Make Hang to see the completed sculptural mobile, that includes about 1000 strung cranes in an installation that you can walk inside of and experience spinning around you…
Beau Buck’s Jackrabbits
Beau Buck made Make Hang Gallery six of these beautifully handcrafted jackrabbit sculptures based on the size of a real California jackrabbit. This one is made of an antique embroidered silk quilt with an American theme, that Beau lined with Tyvek for strength and thick copper for integrity. This is a very archival and well made jackrabbit that will be a timeless heirloom for a lucky customer.
Aline and Alan Make a Sign
Aline found this old door in the basement of Make Hang, then Alan cut it in half, sanded it down a bit and added a hinge to make it into a sandwich board for the sidewalk. Then Aline painted and taped MAKE HANG art gallery on it! (Then Alan took this picture)
We love to collaborate here, every aspect of Make Hang is an art project, the displays are art installations that feature three dimensional creations from our neighbors and friends in San Francisco! We have so much fun here, come over and hang out, who knows what you will make or find here………..
