Make Hang

David Delgado worked with Make Hang Gallery in it’s opening summer of 2011 to make an installation in the basement. The basement was a raw, post-chinese-sewing-sweatshop space filled with construction debris, dusty antiques, paint cans and bunk rooms or prison cells made of decrepit wooden pallets. Delgado symbolically and physically transformed into a space for creativity and contemporary art to thrive by rearranging and reinventing the uses and contexts of pre-existing materials in the space. The installation was up for three months from June to August 2011, and greatly moved many visitors of the space. Delgado’s piece was a powerful moment in the art history of North Beach that will be considered among the community and beyond for years to come.
